Help – Career changing to Dynamics 365 | Not getting interviews

Posted on by 2
I'm a business analyst with British/EU citizenship, currently based in Brazil (relocated temporarily due to surgery) and moving back to the UK in the coming weeks.

My background is in business analysis with some ERP/SAP experience a few years ago. More recently, I've been studying and building hands-on experience through Microsoft trial environments, and I currently hold Applied Skills credentials in Power Apps (Canvas), Power Automate, Copilot Studio, AI workflows and a 95 hour D365 CE bootcamp.

The problem is: I've been applying to D365 CE / Power Platform roles for almost a year now and I'm not getting any interviews — not even rejections in most cases.
What should I do or change to start getting calls? I'm open to any position, including junior roles, just to get my foot in the door.

Happy to share my CV. Any help is genuinely appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi,

I don't know for what exact roles you are applying to. If you try to become a Power Apps consultant with a Dynamics 365 partner, then I can understand that companies aren't choosing you as it seems like your experience starts about 9 months ago with the technology. At least, that is how I read your CV. The applied skills aren't certifications which might be interesting to partners.

In case you are applying at end users as business analyst, then your experience seems to be good, but I would have doubts. To each job experience, you provided too much detail. During an interview, you can explain all the details if they ask for it. I would start by pimping your CV. It looks too basic. Ensure you have an appealing lay-out. Add a wonderful photo where maybe you smile a bit. Like colorful graphs are appealing to CFOs, a well-designed CV is appealing to HR.

Having the experience at Santander and PSA Groupe is valuable. Keep it short. Maybe summarize the text in one short paragraph per experience.
What holds me back is the text 'Independent Market Analyst' with the details. This is just because of the details. In case you mention the title including 'self-employed' and only mention that you performed several analyst related projects for clients, that will make me more curious.

As mentioned, less is more. Have an appealing lay-out. Don't add all of the details. Make people interested to learn more about you. If you then get interviewed, you can explain all and they will get to learn you with your personality and you can talk about some details, but also focus on talking about your future role.

In addition, you can reach out to a recruitment agency.

    I really appreciate your reply.

As I would like to enter this world, I'm applying for roles involving Copilot Studio, Power Platform and D365 CE.

You're right that Applied Skills are not as strong as certifications. I see them more as a proof of hands-on experience in specific scenarios. I'm planning to add at least one role-based certification as soon as I secure an end-user or analyst role.
I'm not looking for shortcuts, I want to work hard and grow in this area.

I'll simplify my CV and work on a more appealing layout as you suggest.

Based on your experience, what kind of D365 end-user roles would be realistic entry points for someone with my background?

    Thank you again.

I think it will be easier for you to start with a client compared to a partner. The reason is that you have experience as a business analyst, which is product agnostic. Probably grow from there. It is not impossible to apply to partners focusing on Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.

Roles at a client can be a job like an analyst, application manager, or internal consultant.
Maybe you can also add interests and hobbies.
